the unlikely champion of Hydaelyn, Red accidentally became the chosen one when she left the islands without her brother. she started off in Gridania and worked with Rin (sister) as a hunter and mercenary before the events of ARR changed her life forever. in the early days of adventuring, she is accompanied by Buan (childhood friend), Bachu (mentor), and Arau (mentor's wife). her twin brother Ras joins the party from HW onwards.

Red and Ras were found and raised by lalafells on one of the South Sea Islands. people thought they were twins at first, until Red had her growth spurt and the townspeople realized that she is too large for a mere hyur, but there are no other defining features of the other races, so they just decided to label her a hyur (albeit a questionable one). her childhood is spent training with her mother and siblings and helping out at her family's tavern, until she comes of age and leaves the islands to see Rin.
she worked alongside Rin as a hunter/mercenary until she was recruited into the adventurer's guild, and the rest was history. Red isn't dumb (she receievd a formal education on the islands) but there is still a lot about Eorzea that she didn't understand.
