a lonely trader of few words. he meets the protagonist early during their journey but didn't join the party until after three immortals have joined. very quick on his feet and can throw a mean punch, but quite usesless when it comes to spellcasting.

Xuan was a former emperor of Yan, a desert kingdom. the fourth to be 'blessed' by the goddess, he abdicated his throne to his son shortly after. he became a wandering trader, taking on odd jobs and selling whatever he finds on his travels, but mostly information. his true name is Yan Gon Xuan.

he was born to one of the emperor's concubines, and therefore had a lower status compared to his other siblings. Xuan is nevertheless given a title as a prince and given the same priviledges as his half siblings. he was spared by his half-sister Che Lan during the massacre which killed everyone in the royal family (including his mother) and he fled the kingdom, eventually joining a band of sky pirates. he lived freely for a few years until he couldn't ignore the plight of his people anymore and returned to the kingdom to join the resistance. he became the emperor after ending Che Lan's tyranny, rebuilding his country into what it is now.

the angels don't really see how he could be a threat when he's just a normal human who can't even use magic effectively (compared to the other immortals). the council's concerns are not of his powers or strength, but the vast information and contacts he has from travelling.
