Gundam SEED/SEED Destinythe struggle was real and the ship wars were intense. quite literally one of the first ship wars i participated in until i got older and was tired of it all. SEED was good. SEED Destiny? not so much but it gave them a bit of lore to work with. still hurts that Cagali wasn't the one with Athrun in the end. at least the SEED remake had a brand new scene for these two, i can't complain.
Masahiro/Akiko
Shounen Onmyoujii literally forgot about these two because they are so fucking frustrating! they can't get married, they can't even say they love each other or see each other without a barrier and their interactions are all monitored by servants and the royal family. the forbidden romance of two teens burdened by duty. it's literally canon but i might die before they even get together. at this point i'm just following the story out of spite.
Kirishima/Yoshino ❗
Raise Wa Tanin Ga Iiwhere do I fucking start! their relationship is so fucked up that anything between them that resembles love is immediately followed by a yikes - but it is what makes them so interesting. Kirishima is so insane about Yoshino that it's not garden variety devotion; Yoshino is also sometimes not normal when it comes to Kirishima (or the things he does)... it's a twisted romance that makes you unwell.
Lightning/Hope
Final Fantasy XIII trilogyfrom the second and third games onward, the subtext all but confirms their relationship. maybe one-sided, maybe not. but you cannot deny the hundreds of years of pining, the lengths Hope went just see Lightning again, so desperate that he is easily manipulated into being the almighty god's vessel (even kinna influencing said god), died, and came back, all the while looking fine as fuck.

Ace Attorney seriesme before playing the AA games: i just think they're neat! me after playing the trilogy: oh. oh. they are just that obsessed with each other huh. there is no explicit indication of their relationship... but everyone in-universe and out knows there's something going on between them. they might as well be married!
Wei Ying/Lan Zhan
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivationemotionally constipated guy and shameless troll. wouldn't be that special until you factor in the tragic tale which is emotionally constipated guy doing what he does best and could not spit it out, never moving on and finally deciding that he's done enough constipating when shameless troll comes back so he 'actively' pursues him, with mixed results. just. this guy never moved on for 10+ years. so when he finally has a second chance, he isn't going to let it go.
Adora/Catra
She-Ra and the Princesses of Powerthe childhood friends to rivals to enemies to lovers dynamic is so fucking good! the UST between them is undeniable as early as S1, when on opposite sides they act like hurt ex-es but when they're finally on the same side? are they flirting? there's not a single scene of them together that is not painfully obvious that these two have the hots for each other.
Guydelot/Sanson
Final Fantasy XIVthere's other questlines in the game which has the WoL third-wheeling the NPCs, but the BRD quests are something else. the WoL acts as the mediator between the two in the HW quests where they just can't shut up about each other (for better or worse), complete with a messenger phase where WoL is unfortunately stuck in the middle while they bicker. meanwhile, the SB quests might make you believe romance is not dead.
Shinji/Kaworu ⚓
Rebuild of Evangelionthe angel who fell in love with a lonely mortal. this is painful but the extremely tragic kind. Shinji has never known love in his life and here comes an angel who loves him unconditionally and that's the thing that hurts. Kaworu loves him no matter what and it can only end badly, because this is Evangelion.
Vash/Wolfwood
Trigunback-to-back badasses who care deeply for each other but are too fucked up to acknowledge that what they feel is love. an immortal who has never known true connection and a human who only knows how to kill, doomed by the narrative in every universe.

Tales of Xillia 2most brotps don't fall in this category because they usually make up before the point of no return. these two? yikes. they don't necessarily fight or argue because they still trust and love each other; but poor communication is the root of all evil and there is no canon timeline in which both the brothers are alive and happy... only in their dreams.
Yuri/Flynn 🤝
Tales of Vesperiagoes both ways as a otp and brotp, the pair that surpassed even the most popular official couples. another literal battle couple, but this time with a healthy serving of childhood friends/rivals/old flames trope. the otp aspect is good but the brotp is superior. throughout the game never did they doubt each other's intentions, sure they fought like a few times but it was never with feelings of hatred or disappointment. Yuri is the shadow to Flynn's light, and he does what Flynn can't.
Kiryu/Nishiki 🤝
Yakuza 0oath brothers who would die for each other. it was so nice to see until you play through the first game of the series. to love someone so much that you would rather they die by your hand than see them tortured. to have such faith in someone that you would stand by their side, even if it means getting your ass kicked. such a beautiful brotherhood brings tears to your eyes!
Kazuma/Ryuunosuke
The Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesdubbed asoryuu. as damaging as wrightworth, but in a very different way. this ship ended as soon as it started, then resurrected itself during the final arc. there is no heterosexual explanation between these two, and i tried. their trust runs so deep, i can't even talk about it without spoiling the twist. you'll just have to see it for yourself.
Hinata harem
Haikyuu!!used to exclusively ship kagehina, then the timeskip happened and i understood the appeal of a Hinata harem. with how he is with the people around him it's no wonder why fans interpret it this way. i call my version the 'pretty setter harem' because i usually remember to include Kageyama, Kenma, Oikawa, Atsumu (the setters) first, then the others.
WoLship
Final Fantasy XIVthere's so many people you can ship your oc or self-insert wol with in this game. for me the best boi will always be Haurchefant (freaky lil' shit) but i have shipped my wol with other major and minor npcs, and then there's my azem character who is in the Hades/Hythlodaeus polycule, i also have another wol who is a self-insert and that has its own ships too...
